About Our Stay
We booked a privately owned site at Aztec RV Resort through Hipcamp on our first trip down to the Keys. We specifically chose a site with a private hot tub, but unfortunately the stay was a disaster. The site was in rough shape when we arrived and looked like a storm had just come through. The hot tub had thousands of tadpoles in it and clearly had not been maintained. Our experience with the private owner was also extremely poor, and we eventually received most of our money back. The resort itself looked like it had a lot of potential, though. The main pool area was under construction during our visit, so there wasn't much for us to do besides walk around. We'd actually be tempted to give Aztec another try when the resort is busier and fully operational—but we would book differently next time.

Family & Kid Notes
- There wasn't much for the kids to do during our particular visit because the main pool area was under construction. We mostly walked around the resort.
Things to Do Nearby
- We were just passing through.
Would We Stay Again?
Despite how bad our first experience was, we'd be tempted to give Aztec another chance when the resort is fully operational and busier. We would not book the same privately owned Hipcamp site again.
