Black Bear Snow Tubing

Hendersonville, North Carolina

"Real snow, fast tubing lanes, and plenty of frozen family fun in the North Carolina mountains."

We visited Black Bear Snow Tubing in January, and when we say it was cold, we mean COLD. The temperature was hovering around 10 degrees! We had purchased our tickets before Buddy unexpectedly joined our family, so naturally, he came along for the hour-long drive. While we braved the freezing temperatures, Buddy stayed warm in our Jeep with the heat running. The tubing was an absolute blast! The cable tow made getting back up the hill easy, and we managed to squeeze in several runs despite the cold. Joey and Maddie were the real champions, each making it down three times, more than anyone else in our group. If you're visiting the Hendersonville area during winter, Black Bear Snow Tubing is a fun family adventure worth adding to your itinerary. The real highlight, though, is the coastline. Unlike the typical sandy Florida beaches, Blowing Rocks features dramatic limestone formations along the Atlantic Ocean. It's a beautiful place to walk, explore, take photos, and enjoy a completely different side of Florida. One thing to know before visiting: parking is limited! "Try and survive your dinner! "

This was a neat experience. We boarded VIP for a dinner experience on board the Titanic. After walking around the exhibit, we were ushered into our dining hall, where we had a well acted dinner experience, leading right up to the sinking. Kelsey was the only one to perish in this tragic event, and fun was had by all. Definitely a neat show to check out. Food was on par for a dinner show.

"World SMALLEST Police Station. And you can go inside!! "

Exactly as described. This is the Worlds Smallest Police Station, barely the size of a phone booth. Great little roadside attraction in Florida's Forgotten Coast.

"Grand Canyon of the East! Majestic looking"

This was a nice camping weekend for us. The landscape is truly incredible and like something you'd expect to see in the Badlands. This actually comes from years of farm runoff, but the end result looks pretty wild! We stayed just down the road at Florence Marina.

"One of the BEST seafood Restaurants in Florida! "

Nice casual upscale joint located in a marina. We had the sister restaurant when we stayed at Sugarloaf, and came here while we were staying at Fiesta Key. We showed up early to a 40 minute wait, but it was worth it. The food was delicious. The bacon cheeseburger soup was wild and a family favorite. Joey tried the flash fried Conch and had a new favorite appetizer. Everything we had was cleared. The drinks were poured well too!

"Awesome creekside dining! "

We stopped here on our visit to Helen and enjoyed an outdoor meal after a rain shower. It was great to sit above the creek and watch the tubers go by, while enjoying a meal in 75 degree weather. The schnitzel was delicious. The kids loved the large pretzels! Bonus that they are a gas buddy partner, so if you use a card tied to your gasbuddy account, you get 40 points per dollar. Bar Harbor Seafood

Orlando, Florida

"Great local joint for a lobster roll!"

This is a hidden gem here in Orlando, tucked in the corporate complex between Sand Lake Road and John Young (less than 10 minutes from Epic Universe and Florida Mall). It is a simple walk up counter where you can order fresh seafood and order up something for lunch. The lobster roll is great the way it comes.

"Rolling down a mountain in a big ball! "

Maddie had this on her list of things to do when we stayed at Anchor Down. I found a great deal on Groupon, although the GoPro video isn’t really worth adding on with the quality. The kids loved it and each did two runs down.

"Lots of good local market options "

We stopped in on a rainy day and came home with a lot of goods. We stocked up on produce, local gin, pretzels and even some cupcakes.

"Great night time prison tour! "

This was a stop for Shianne as she loves haunted attractions and saw this on a YouTube video. We did the twilight tour, and it was worth every penny. We got a guided tour, then turned loose to look around on our own. Such a cool experience!

New River Gorge Bridge Walk

Lansing, West Virginia

"EPIC experience that will take your breath away! "

This is a guided and safe tour across the underside of the New River Gorge bridge. You are strapped up and bussed down to the visitor center (3 minutes). You take a short walk down to the base and get strapped up to the safety cable. Once everyone is in, you work your way across to the other side, with multiple stopping points along the way. After you finish, they bus you back to the lot.

"Saved us on the road! "

We lost our hot water heater, and the team was able to take us as a walk in and have us up and moving again in under an hour. Great rates too!

"Great short hike to a majestic waterfall! "

This was right on the NC/SC state line and about 7 miles past Gorges State Park. It is about a .25 mile walk from the parking lot ($3 pay box for being on Federal Land) and 144 stairs down (and back up). Such an awesome view!

"The exact spot that JFK was assassinated! "

Shianne and I visited while hitting Dallas for an Orlando Magic game. Such a piece of history to see up close and in person. You can see where JFK was assassinated, and go up to the sixth floor, where Lee Harvey Oswald (if that is what you believe) shot JFK.

Backcountry Boat Rentals

Sugarloaf Key, Florida

Backcountry Boat Rentals offers pontoon boat rentals for exploring the waters of the Florida Keys. We rented a double-slide pontoon for a half day and took it out to a calm, crystal-clear area where we could anchor, swim and let the kids spend hours on the slides. Our boat had plenty of room for our group of four adults, four kids and a teenager, making it a great option for families or groups who want their own day on the water.
