Richloam Wildlife Management Area
Webster, Florida
"Our favorite place in Central Florida to get the Jeep dirty and disappear into the woods for a while."

Why we recommend it
Richloam is our favorite place to take the Jeep, and over the years it’s become one of those places that’s just part of our family story. Both Joey and Maddie actually learned the basics of driving out here before they were 10, slowly making their way along the quiet dirt roads with us right beside them. We’ve explored Richloam countless times, and no two trips ever seem exactly the same. Sometimes it’s dry and easy; other times the mud, water, and ruts turn a drive through the woods into a real adventure. We love wandering the forest roads, seeing where they lead, and feeling like we’re much farther from home than we really are. And no Richloam trip is complete for us without a stop at the Richloam General Store — but that place deserves an Explore entry all its own.
About this place
Richloam Wildlife Management Area is a sprawling section of the Withlacoochee State Forest filled with unpaved forest roads, trails, wetlands, and old-Florida scenery. It’s a great area for exploring by Jeep or other appropriate vehicle, with conditions that can change dramatically depending on recent rain. Expect everything from easy dirt roads to mud, standing water, deep ruts, and sections where turning around may be the smartest option.
