Anchor Down

Dandridge, TN·July 2026

Anchor Down is the location that turned us into Rv'ers. After visiting three time in our 30' Cruise America Rentals, we went home and purchased our first class A. This was where we ran away during covid, and where we escape for some summertime water fun. The kids love the pool and waterslide, as well as the slide into the lake and inflatables. They offer great sites with amazing fireplaces and million dollar views. The spots are paved and flat. The staff is some of the best around. This is truly a gem.

Bahia Honda State Park

Big Pine Key, FL·September 2024

Bahia Honda was a one-night stay that we managed to snag through Arvie, and even though we had an interior site, it gave us a chance to experience one of the places we really wanted to see in the Keys. We spent time relaxing at the beach with the kids and walked up the old bridge for an incredible sunset. The mosquitoes were intense, and being fairly close to the dumpster meant we noticed mice around the campsites, but neither took away from how beautiful the park was. For a quick one-night stay, we packed quite a bit into it.

Bethpage Camping Resort

Urbanna, VA·July 2026

We managed to phone in a booking with Thousand Trails and land a booking as part of our Camping Pass and Trails collection. This was great, as we only spent $20 per night to stay here! There is not much to do outside of the resort, but plenty to do and space to enjoy inside. They have multiple pools, water slides, mini golf (separate pay) and more. The staff was great and professional. The sites we had were in the middle and double size in the woods. It was truly a great place to stay.

Black Prong Resort

Bronson, FL·October 2024

Black Prong was a completely different kind of Harvest Hosts stay for us. Kelsey and I came here for an anniversary getaway, and from the moment we checked in it felt more like arriving at a high-end resort than an RV stop. We were given a welcome packet at check-in, the service was excellent, and our full-hookup site was located on a small field. We spent time walking the property and seeing the horses, then had a great anniversary dinner at the on-site restaurant with excellent food and live music. The pool looked inviting, although we decided to skip swimming on this trip. This was an easy, relaxing one-night getaway and one of the more unique Harvest Hosts experiences we've had.

Blake Farms Family RV Resort

Union Grove, NC·July 2026

This was a location that Chat found for us as we needed a stopover between Mountain Falls and Sanwar. This turned out being such a great stop. Easy access and only a few miles off the highway, you feel really disconnected from the real world. The sites themselves are not super exciting, but this is such a cute resort. They have a playground and a huge inflatable pillow. There is a path around the lake and a mini golf course with clubs and balls. The shop up front is so cute and has tons of local artisan goods and foods. The staff is also super nice. We would definitely come back here for a couple of nights.

Camp Margaritaville Resort Orange Lake

Citra, FL·August 2026

We saw another post on this place and decided we had to try. Our normal go to resort is Canopy Oaks, and this was about the same distance the other way. We packed up after school on Friday and headed up for the weekend. We arrived after hours and they didn't have our packet, but the team was great and escorted us to our site. We booked a standard (cheapest) back in site. We were VERY close to the amenities and the area was nice and open. This is a no trees area if that bugs you. The site was not level, and we needed two blocks under the front tires to level the rig, but easy enough. The waterpark was the reason for the trip, and it didn't disappoint. They have four big slides, a kids splash area, a large family pool, a lazy river, a second splash area and two additional swirly slides. They have a full kitchen and several bars, ice cream shop and arcade. They also have a gift shop with plenty of necessities. They do sell day passes in the off season, so most of the crowd was local, but still not too crowded. We are looking forward to coming back again soon!

Colt Creek State Park

Lakeland, FL·March 2025

Colt Creek has to have some of the biggest and level concrete pads for any state park we have been to. This park is a great location for us so we can go take the Jeep off roading in Richloam forest. It is also close to family in Zephyrhills. We have not really enjoyed the park itself much, but have heard reports that Bigfoot does roam in these areas (look it up).

Creek Fire is a family favorite and very convenient on any 95 trip. The resort is not far from the highway and perfect for a one or two night stay. The ease of access is great. The lazy river is one of the best around, and the kids love having options of pools and splash areas. They have a bar area and great drinks. They also have playground and other amenities. We had our rig washed while we stayed (recommended by the front desk) and had a great experience. They are also a short drive to Savannah and offer a trolley stop right on property.

This was a visit with my Aunt and we both grabbed sites next to each other. This was a great little resort, with awesome service. The sites are well shaded, but good spacing and good starlink reception. The pool area is smaller, but being a small campground, it is perfect. They have golf cart rentals, and we went riding all through the woods. The kids got to feed the baby goats. Such a great time!

Gamble Rogers has to be one of the best views from the top of the RV. If you have a beachside spot and back up to the ocean, you have the waves right outside your back window. There are no amenities at this campground, but multiple walkways to the ocean. Lots of sand, so bring your broom. Green Pond Event Center

Anderson, SC·July 2025

This was truly a special Harvest Host stop for us. We were coming back from our 4th of July trip and booked this as a simple stayover. We ended up with a Camp host spot next to Steve and Vern, the camp hosts. They were amazing souls, and we couldn't have been next to better people. They had been having a rough year with health and pets, and had recently lost both ac's in their classic newmar. We were able to get the center to start a fund and get them a new AC, which made us so happy. The view was to die for, and we had full hookups. It is nice to watch the ramp at the end of the day. Pure people watching pleasure.

Hilton Head, SC·November 2025

We were invited here by friends to enjoy Thanksgiving last year, and it was an amazing time. The resort itself is removed from the real world and seems like it's own little paradise. We were there when it was cold, so we did not enjoy the outdoors as much as we wanted. We did have a great time and felt like family. The owners made us feel like we were part of the resort at the pot luck. The sites are all a bit different, and we had some outdoor furniture and close to our friends, so we were happy. They have fresh produce and seafood vendors that come in, and there is a bike rental just outside the property. So much to do without having to go too far.

Mountain Falls Luxury Motorcoach Resort

Lake Toxaway, NC·August 2026

Mountain Falls is truly a destination resort. This has been on our list since we started Rving. After having a fellow Rver come up to us at Anchor Down and say he was visiting there next, we decided it would become part of our summer trip. We squeezed in two nights in a pavilion site. We had originally booked a Ridge lot with fenced in yard for Sky and Buddy. As we got closer, the weather seemed to look rough, so we changed to a Pavilion site (same price), which couldn't have been better. It was amazing to sit outside in the rain and watch movies after a day of hiking. Great space to get work done. The pool and clubhouse are amazing. The entire place is on a different level.

Dunnellon, FL·September 2026

This was our first visit. We snagged a very last minute spot for Labor Day weekend and enjoyed ourselves. We tubed from the campground to the other side of the park. It was $12 per person for the ride back in our own tubes. Cool water and very refreshing. We even coasted by two gators! Site 23 may very well be one of the best. It’s at the end of the last loop, so little traffic. The site itself was nice and open in the back with a ton of space. Starlink, Att and Verizon all worked well. We did go and purchase t mobile home internet as a cheaper Starlink alternative. It worked as well as the Starlink.

This was a magical stay. We were right up on the Atlantic, just steps from the ocean. This is a no frills campground, and basically a dirt parking lot by the sea. It is perfect in so many ways. The staff is great, and the spots are as close as you can get to the water. When we visited, Joey ran out to the beach, without realizing there was an ash ceremony. This was probably our favorite Harvest Host location. We stopped on our way up to the Panhandle, and couldn't have run into better hosts. Peggy and Cory were top notch, and greeted us with open arms, brought us monkeybread and even hooked up the wagon to the old CJ and gave us a tour of property. Some of the best service we have ever encountered. We booked our stay and play trip at the Florida RV show and met Michael, the resort manager. When we finally visited, it was the Easter right after they opened. Michael was there and he and the staff were beyond top notch. They offer plenty of amenities and events. We loved the aviary and candy bar bingo. Being right up on the animals is a neat experience, and having direct access to the back of the theme park is a bonus! Delaware Seashore State Park

Rehoboth Beach, DE·March 2025

Delaware Seashore was another quick overnight stop as we made our way from New Jersey toward the Outer Banks, but it ended up being one we won’t forget. We had a gorgeous waterfront site right by the bridge—and easily the windiest night we’ve ever spent in the RV. The location was beautiful, with the water right outside our site, and the next morning we woke up to the sound of Coast Guard trumpets across the water. We weren’t there long, but between the wind, the bridge, and waking up on the water, this was definitely more than just a place to spend the night.

Resort at Canopy Oaks has become our “home” resort — the campground we find ourselves returning to more than anywhere else. It’s close enough to make an easy weekend trip, but far enough from home that it still feels like we actually got away. The paved, level sites make setup easy, the pool is always a good time, and the large tiki bar has become one of our favorite places to hang out. Even when the resort isn’t particularly busy, the tiki is open and the drinks are reasonably priced. Great service, easy weekends, and consistently good times are what keep bringing us back.

Lakemont, GA·July 2026

This is a top three for our family, and we have visited three times now. Being able to back up to the river and throw a tube in is special. This place is tucked in the gorge, and a great getaway. The river access is prime, and makes it worth the premium. Sites are tight, but this is a campground, not a resort. Set your expectations. There will be Rv buddies and tent buddies. We all co exist. Plenty of kids and a playground for them to use. During our last visit, we took a trip to Helen. This is worthwhile if you have nothing else to do. This place was such a pleasant surprise. We were right across the lake from Margaritaville, and it felt like we were in a different world. We got really lucky on this one. On our way, we didn't realize it, but they had called us to tell us there was a problem with our site, so they had to relocate us. As they were sold out, we got the unused host site. This meant we were upgraded from E/W to a full hookup site, the closest to the beach area. We had such a huge camp area and a paved walkway (ADA accessible) to the beach area. This place is built up on the side of the lake and has some awesome views. We enjoyed a 4th of July here and would love to go back. It is part of the Army Corps of Engineers, so a great value!

We did not use much for amenities as it was in the 30's when we visited. The roads in were a bit windy, but doable.

We came here to visit good friends that also own here. This is a great resort, just a few miles from the beaches, and a short drive to Sanibel or Captiva. The sites are individually owned and all large concrete pads with full hookups. The pool area is nice. We visited off season, so they had limited amenities.

This park bailed us out when we had battery issues at another Harvest host nearby. They took last minute bookings, and we had a safe place to stay for the night. Easy access and level site. We didn't use the amenities as we got in late and left early. It served it's purpose.

We did a labor day trip here, and it was a nice getaway and a chance to slow down. This is a no frills campground, but perfect water views. The "Forgotten Coast" is an amazing place to see some old school Florida. About 7 minutes up the road, you can even enjoy the "World's Smallest Police Station."

Great stop! We ended up scoring a site on Arvie (Check out our Membership and Apps), so we managed to stay one night on our way home from the Keys. This is a great location. Basic sites with water and electric, as well as a dump station. They have an aquarium and trails on site, as well as a beach. You can also go out on expeditions right from the park. We did a snorkel trip and loved it. Bring some Dramamine if you get sick though!

This was a stopover on the way to the Keys, but could be a destination of its own. We used Arvie to secure a spot, and couldn't be happier. The park itself is huge, with tons of trails for biking, ebiking and hiking. The Brightline runs through the park (not next to the sites) and is really cool to see the train blow through! We took a trip over to Blowing Rock Park, which is over by all of the rich homes (Tiger Woods). Such a great experience and something you'd expect up north or on the west coast.

This was a great campground. We came here for New Years and spent a week. It was nice and quiet, and one of our cheapest KOA stays we have ever had. They were still rebuilding from Helene, and had some of the best spirits around. The campground was great and we had a great spot and even got a propane fill. It was in the 20's and 30's so we did not get to enjoy the amenities, but did enjoy a few great hikes and the Blue Ridge Parkway.

The Puc Puggy Campground is such a cool place, and a real slice of nature, so close to 75. The highlight is being able to go out and hike on the "plains" and the chance to see the wild horses and bison. This is an awesome place we have been to twice, and would be back again!

This is a great location if looking to visit St. Augustine. It is a short drive away and easy access. We stopped in last time to do the lights, and simply grabbed an Uber from the front. This is a mix of transient and full time, so a bit of a mix bag in terms of the visitors. Still a great place and we have enjoyed both of our stops. We have visited both time in the off season, so did not use any amenities other than the playground.

This is our true "home" resort. We have stayed here more than anywhere, and is a regular fallback when we just want to CAMP. It is only 20 minutes from home. We stay in the new/premium section and do not like staying in the "sandbox." The pool area is nice with 80's music. They have plenty of activities onsite, and the staff is really nice. The on site food is good. There are a lot of feral kids running around..this is a bit more of a mix of full time and traveling families.

This is another easy visit for us, less than 10 minutes from our home. It is part of the Trails collection on our Thousand Trail membership. The membership gets you in the back of the resort, with no guarantee of sewer. We like to pay to upgrade to the premium (paved) pull thru spots. They are full hookup. Old Town and Fun Spot are a walk away. It does get loud because of that, but can be drowned out by your AC.

We stayed here as part of our Thousand Trails pass. We only paid $20 per night, and this stay alone saved us our annual dues. We had a spot a row in from the water, but it was still great. You are there for location, not much else. The sunsets were amazing. Maddie and Dad took the paddleboards out and were greeted with dolphins playing in the sunset waters. The pool area is a bit rough, but does the trick. The restaurant still was not open (as of 6/26). Sites are on gravel/shell and very tight, but the view from up top is amazing.

Definitely an awesome destination! The campground provides free shuttle service to the park every 15-20 minutes. As a guest, you get in an hour early. If you have a park ticket, you can also use it 3 hours before closing the night before. We were there on a rainy weekend, so didn't get to enjoy the site much. We were in the corner, near the field and had a lot of road construction in the morning. Not a deal breaker by any means. The staff was great. They have a large gift shop, decent laundry and multiple pools with lifeguards. They also have gaga ball for the kids, but it was flooded while we were there. Lancaster is a short trip away and worth taking advantage of!

This was a short stopover on our way down to Jonathan Dickinson and the Keys. It is part of our Thousand Trails program, so there was no nightly rate. This place was alright. We had full hookups on the road side, but it still seemed better than the middle and by the river. I heard this place is prone to flooding. The staff was nice and the pool looked nice, but we didn't use. We did take the e bikes on the trails around the property. The laundry room also got the job done.

Aztec RV Resort

Margate, FL·August 2024

We booked a privately owned site at Aztec RV Resort through Hipcamp on our first trip down to the Keys. We specifically chose a site with a private hot tub, but unfortunately the stay was a disaster. The site was in rough shape when we arrived and looked like a storm had just come through. The hot tub had thousands of tadpoles in it and clearly had not been maintained. Our experience with the private owner was also extremely poor, and we eventually received most of our money back. The resort itself looked like it had a lot of potential, though. The main pool area was under construction during our visit, so there wasn't much for us to do besides walk around. We'd actually be tempted to give Aztec another try when the resort is busier and fully operational—but we would book differently next time.

Liberty Harbor RV Park

Jersey City, NJ·March 2025

This place is key for location. That is about it. It is GREAT for location, with a 5 minute walk to the train to get into the city, and a view of Lady Liberty from your rig. This is an electric and water only, so no sewer. It can be a bit tough getting in with the busy streets, but very doable in a larger rig. The staff was nice, but not hospitality minded. We lost our batteries and converter in the middle of a 20 degree night and had no power. We had to call out an emergency tech out with our warranty, and the office tried to shake us down for a 10% kickback. We settled on zero and a mutual understanding of how asinine that was. Very respectful though. If we could not get another place close by, I would consider this for a two night stay if wanting the easy access to the city.

This was a destination weekend for us. The place was good, with plenty of activities for the kids. We loved the candy bingo. Maddie made her own Tie Die, and the kids really enjoyed getting soaked on the water train. The place itself is a bit old and run down. The water area and lazy river are something out of the 80's and Action Park, and rough on the skin. The pool is small with little deck space, and not big enough for higher occupancies. We had to trade our golf cart as the first one broke down. The second one was not far behind. Overall, the kids had a great stay and we enjoyed it, but we would not run to return.

Every campground and RV park listed here is a place our family has actually stayed. We note membership programs (Thousand Trails, Harvest Hosts, and others), cell coverage, bathhouse quality, and whether we'd return.
